Good to know...
Adding or renovating a room or two can be a good investment, particularly in today's tough real estate market. Many homeowners want and need more usable space but realize that instead of spending money getting ready to sell, they'd rather add features to make their house more loveable and stay put.
If you do decide to sell, take comfort in knowing that every 1,000 square feet added/renovated to a home boosts the sale price by more than 30%, according to a study conducted by the National Association of Realtors.
Bathroom additions return the most at almost 86.4%, according to Remodeling Magazine's report. The addition of attic bedrooms, family rooms, and sunrooms returned anywhere from 70% to more than 80% of the money spent... and that doesn't factor in the value of your own enjoyment of all that new space.
